Leaseholders can often come up against queries with their Landlord or Managing Agent and we urge anyone at this point, to contact us so we can advise and resolve any issues before they escalate.  Queries can be from disputing your service charges; understanding if those charges are reasonable; acquiring the Right to Manage; legal advice regarding a lease; coping with problematic neighbours; buying your freehold through Collective Enfranchisement and if you are Leaseholder in a block with a dispute, guiding you through to the First-Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).

Residents’ Management Companies

To quote ARMA’s (Association of Residential Managing Agents) advice on understanding Residents’ Management Companies “It’s quite common for a block of flats to be owned or managed by a company made up of the Leaseholders. These are usually known as Residents’ Management Companies (RMCs) or Right to Manage Companies (RTMs).

Being a Leaseholder and being a Shareholder or member of an RMC is not the same, even though you could be both. RMC directors need to keep a clear distinction between the two roles when making decisions.”
